Hello everyone. Today's assignment post is about Assistive Technology. I explored 4 different language translating websites. The first website was google's translation technology. I was able to translate a websites information into any language I wanted. I did this by clicking on language tools right next to the I'm feeling lucky button. I then scrolled down the page and typed in the schools website so that I can translate it into spanich. It translated a few words.
The second translation website was http://translation.paralink.com/ . It was easy to use and it translated half my information I entered. You also can listen to what you typed in the language you picked. It was kind of fun listening to it and trying to say it. The third translation website was http://babelfish.altavista.com/. I really didn't care to much for this one. It never works out for me. It didn't translate the words right. The last one was http://www.worldlingo.com/. l liked this site. It has free text,document,wesite and email translation.
Also for my assignment I explored assistive technology products. I looked at microsoft's website. It has helpful links for people with vision, hearing,dexterity and mobility, language and communication, or learning needs. I explored the app for windows 7. It was very helpful with making the things on the screen bigger or smaller. I could put a keyboard on the screen rather than type words out by hand. You can also use a app for the vision impaired.
I explored the technology that supports diverse learning. I liked the visual examples. The one I liked was the Do-It-Yourself Video link. Its a desktop video production that allows students to mix video, text, sound, music, still images and dialogue into compelling stories, documentaries and research projects for sharing. It will help a student’s to think, learn, understand and communicate.
The last topic I explored was for photosensitive epilepsy. Seizures in photosensitive people may be triggered by exposure to television screens , computer monitors, to certain video games or TV broadcasts containing rapid flashes or moving patterns of different colors, and to intense strobe lights like visual fire alarms. You can help children with this disability by using computer monitors with a flicker-free monitor (LCD display or flat screen),use a monitor glare guard, wear non-glare glasses to reduce glare from the screen, and take frequent breaks from tasks involving the computer. When watching a educational video on a television, watch it in a in a well-lit room to reduce the contrast between light from the set and light in the room, reduce the brightness of the screen ,make sure the student is as far back from the screen as possible, use the remote control to change channels on the tv, and avoid watching for long periods of time.
My over all experience with this assistive technology was great. I learn things i didn't know that will help me with my ESL when i become a teacher. I hope you enjoyed my post today. I did.

3rd emergent technology of the month
Today's technology that I explored is called Mixbook. Mixbook is a site were you can create beautiful scrapbook online. It's free and easy to sign up with just your name, email and password. At first I thought that I wasn't going to be able to understand by just looking at the website. It's tutorial wasn't very understanding but it opened up other links on youtube that explained everything really well. Here are some helpful tips to help you with your own book.
1.Go to the http://www.mixbook.com/ for mixbook.
2.Click on the signup link at the top of the page.
- Fill in your name, email, and a password.
3.Click on the get started now link
4.Click the create tab
5.Choose which size book you want.
-You have a chose between a 5 page book to a 35 page book They all range in small to large.
6.Select a theme
7. You can add photos from facebook, flickr, picasa, smugmug, and photobucket.
-You can select these by clicking on pick a photo.
-You can also change the shape and vision of the pic by clicking on the picture and using the tool bar that pops up.
8. Next choose auto mix on the toolbar .
-This will create a project for you using your uploads. If you don't like them you can rearrange them.
9.Add backgrounds and stickers
- This will help you put your own touch to the book.
10. Make sure you save all of your work and your book is complete.
- An embed code will be at the bottom of your home page as your finished.
Overall, I liked the way my book has came together by the helpful tutorials that I watched on youtube. I hope you guys enjoy my book.

Hello everyone. Today's blog is about an emergent technology tool called photo share. I explored Roxio Photo Shop. It's really easy and free to use. At the top of the roxio photo shop's page, you can click on the sign up link. You then fill out the infomation like your name,email address and a password. Now you able to start your photo sharing. Just click on the animated label called get started now. Now your able to start uploading your photos.Here are a few tips on how to start your photo share.
1. Click on the basic upload located on the right side of the page.
-You also have the option of choosing to load a batch of photos together,or import your photos from facebook,shutterfly,flickr, and picasa.
2. Next click on browse and locate the photos you wanto to share.
- Those are usually found on your computer under my photos.
3.You can now customize your photo sharing by clicking on the personalize link
- This takes you to a page where you can add a show title, who this is created by, and starring who ever you want.
-when finished click ok.
4. Now pick a style, music & photo,captions, subtitles, stickers, and borders.
- click save when finished.
-click done.
5. Finally, you'll come to a page where you can post to your blog.
-click post to blog and you will recieve an embed code to paste to your blogg.

Getting to know Ashante Malone
My name is Ashante Malone.I love to bake as a hobby.My goal in life is to become a teacher. I'm an elementary education major at IUPUI.When I graduate, I plan on teaching kindergarten. Children are creative and soak up everything like sponges.lol I am up for this long and exciting ride.
Creating this blog was very easy. The tour of how to design this blog was very helpful. I was able to set up the page the way I want to display myself, by chosing a template that I liked. If you don't go through the tour, you maybe a little bit lost when setting up your page. Blogging is very new to me and i think it may be challenging but I'm up for anything new coming my way.
Snow Day 2/1/11
This weeks ice storm was really crazy. I couldn't take pictures but lets just say I though I was looking at a frozen lake in the back of my apartment complex. The children were sliding on top of sleighs and trash can tops. It was that slippery out.
